Transporting and storing construction fences

5 reasons why it pays to invest in transport racks

Once you wrap up a construction project the next step is to dismantle the construction fences and transport them. If they're not immediately needed on another site or event, the fences go into storage. Transport racks come in handy for both transport and temporary storage alike. At first glance, these frames may appear unimpressive, but they have a number of advantages which our experts are pleased to explain below.

1. Space-saving

Transport racks can save you a lot of space during transport and storage of construction fence panels. Depending on the frame, all of the panels can be neatly stacked either vertically or horizontally. The racks can also be stacked on top of each other so you can transport and store a large number of construction fence panels in a small area.

2. Order and overview

Transport racks are great if you want to keep your storage area tidy. Fence panels lined up in neat, orderly rows not only make a professional impression visually, they also provide an easy overview of your stock. Each transport rack can take 25-30 panels. Knowing this makes it easy to figure out how many fence panels you have on hand.

3. Time saving

Transport racks make loading and unloading construction fences more efficient because they are faster and easier to work with when stored systematically. If your fence panels are stored in racks you can use a forklift truck to handle a whole rack at a time. This way you can load large numbers of construction fence panels onto a truck in no time.

4. Stability and load security

Stability during transport is key to prevent damage. The right transport frame ensures construction fence panels are stable and cannot slide around. The German Federal Office for Goods Transport conducts spot checks on the country's motorways. By transporting loose construction fence panels that can slide around in the back of your van, not only are you risking a fine, you also pose a danger on the road.

5. Longer service life

By storing and transporting your fences in racks you can avoid them getting damaged. The forklift truck lifts the frame without coming into contact with the fence panels at all. The frame provides more stability. Without a frame, you run the risk of the fence tubes getting bent or, in the worst case, breaking or getting dented on the side. Storage and transport in a rack can go a long way to extending the life of your fence panels.

Vertical vs. horizontal storage

You have the choice of transport racks that can stack your construction fences vertically or horizontally. Both frames have their advantages and disadvantages. However, horizontal storage is somewhat easier to use. With vertical storage, the tube of the construction fence must be slotted onto the push-on tube. This means dented pipes won't fit properly. Dirt or ice in the pipe can also make
things harder and has to be removed before stacking. The horizontal transport rack consists of 4 pipes on the sides and the fence panels can simply be pushed all the way to the back 2 pipes. Once all the panels are stacked just mount the 2 front tubes.
